| Genesis 3:6 “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes…”
God is not just utilitarian. He is also an artist. He creates beauty pleasant to the eyes.
Creation not only gives us food and resources for life but beauty for the soul.
We cannot afford to underestimate the power of art to feed the soul with beauty.
Christians are like trees. Our congregations, churches, music, preaching should be ‘pleasant’ to the eyes, ears and soul of people everywhere.
The idea the church should be austere or ascetic is wrong.
Hardly anyone remembers Savonarola and his ‘bonfires of the vanities’, but everyone in the world recognises the enduring witness of Michelangelo’s ‘Sistene Chapel’ ceiling and Da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’ (considered ‘vanities’ by religionists).
God’s thumbprint in creation is ‘beauty’, something man can never match!

| i had a funny sleep last night. and woke up at 4:44am. i felt like i "went to bed" 3 times. but it was alright!
i need to read Daniel. i feel like if i write it down i'll be more likely to remember, as i've been trying to for days.

| In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. (psalm 5:3)
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. (psalm 32:3)

| would my life look that incredibly different if i suddenly stopped believing in Him?

| "Worry implies that we don't quite trust that God is big enough, powerful enough, or loving enough to take care of what's happening in our lives.
Stress says that the things we are involved in are important enough to merit our impatience, our lack of grace towards others, or our tight grip of control.
Both worry and stress reek of arrogance."
